The classic sausage stalls are in danger of becoming outdated. Sales of Käsekrainer and the like have been shrinking for years, and kebabs are also declining, while hamburger shops and other fast food chains are doing better business. Expert Andreas Kreutzer knows that restaurants have grown particularly strongly in the past year.
According to a study by Kreutzer’s market research agency Brancheradar.at, we probably spent almost 1.2 billion euros in the entire fast food industry last year. That was an increase of no less than eight percent compared to 2022. But the so-called system catering sector took the lion’s share with 976 million euros and an increase of almost ten percent. The expert mainly means the well-known American chains, but also Subway, Burgerista, PizzaMann and others with at least three locations.
