As reported, there are bottlenecks in kerosene and jet fuel after the accident in the OMV refinery. However, these do not affect flight operations. Vienna airport requested lines to refuel elsewhere if they could.
If refueling is unavoidable, there should be as much fuel as possible on board the aircraft upon arrival. In addition, air traffic control advises not to make refueling stops.
Precaution Only
This is a “precaution to use reserves sparingly,” said an OMV spokesperson. The mineral oil company is currently in the process of starting up an alternative, new supply system to avoid disruptions. The damage caused by the accident is currently being assessed. The same applies to the question of how long the repair will take. Meanwhile, the refinery will not produce any oil.
Last week, the main distillation unit, which was under maintenance, was damaged. Two people suffered minor injuries in the incident. OMV is still checking the background.
