In November, it will launch a platform that will allow you to buy your tickets and those of the competition, such as Ouigo or Iryo, and will attract 650,000 new customers within five years

With the opening of the railway market in Spain, new competitors have emerged and users have to go to the website of each of them to buy their tickets. But Renfe announced this Tuesday that it will create a network of business alliances with the major rail operators to offer all options in its new application.

A new ‘app’ about which more details will be known on September 6, when the new website is launched and the final name that this service will take, now called RaaS (Renfe as a Service), as advanced by the President van Renfe, Isaías Táboas, during his speech at the Global Mobility Call to be held this week in Madrid.

This way you can book train tickets from either Renfe or Avlo (Renfe’s ‘cheap’ company) and their competitors Ouigo (which already runs between Madrid and Barcelona) or Iryo (which will become operational in November). Initially it can only be used in 14 Spanish cities, but within 5 years it will cover all of Spain.

But it will not only be a service for buying train tickets, but also for bicycle, scooter, motorcycle and car-sharing companies, with a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) application. The medium-term objective is to become a comprehensive operator of shared mobility services, integrating public transport, shared services, VTC and taxis, making it much easier for the user to plan their journeys, be less polluting and even use their own resources. pay” app” one of the services.

Táboas indicated that the main purpose of this platform is to respond to the major challenges of mobility, as traffic returns to the same level as in 2019, before the pandemic, but from the point of view of reducing pollution. In this regard, he recalled that transport is responsible for 25% of all emissions in the EU.

It aims to attract up to 650,000 new customers and 1.8 million journeys on its train services from November, which will be extended to all Spanish cities and even abroad in the future, taking advantage of the company’s internationalization, it revealed. taboas.
