The successor to shoe retailer Salamander/Delka, Schuhquadrat GmbH, has gone bankrupt. This was announced by creditor protection KSV1870. No figures on debts or affected employees were available because the insolvency proceedings were opened on the basis of a creditor’s request. According to the KSV, Thomas Steiner has been appointed as administrator.
Last year, the Salamander and Delka branches were closed and innovator Rainer Schrems brought on board German retailer Görtz, which took over the old branches. However, a long-term legal dispute with the Germans is now looming because the company never paid the agreed takeover price for the branches or the rents due, according to the accusation by law firm Singer & Kessler Rechtsanwälte, which represents Delka and Salamander.
“Creditors are bewildered”
“We, the creditors of Delka/Salamander and many employees, are astonished,” Rainer Schrems said in the broadcast. “I have been in the renovation industry for years, but I have never experienced anything like this.”
The reporting and investigation meeting for the bankruptcy proceedings was scheduled for November 18 and creditors can submit claims until November 4, according to the Creditor Protection Association.
