No social plan – dismissals at chocolate company: union is frothing

Date:

After the planned move of the traditional Salzburg Chocolate company in Grödig, employees hoped for a social plan. This one isn’t coming now. The union is angry, accusing “immoral and scandalous behavior” and threatening to take any case to court if necessary.

“We investigate each individual termination and, if necessary, initiate legal proceedings” – with these words the Pro-Ge union announces legal action against Salzburg Chocolate. As the “Krone” reported, the company is moving production to Romania.

Social plan rejected
A social plan for employees was rejected. For the Pro-Ge, this is absolutely “immoral and outrageous behavior.” Despite protection against dismissal, employees are threatened with deportation. This applies, for example, to women on maternity leave or members of the works council. “The employees are being taken to court,” the traditional company is accused.

“Management refuses to spend money to negotiate a social plan for employees and prefers to spend the money on lawyers and legal proceedings.” summarizes Pro-Ge state manager Daniel Mühlberger.

And Mühlberger explains: “In addition, the management of Salzburg Chocolate now pays a significant monthly amount to a temporary employment agency to carry out existing orders.”
