The collapse of the traditional Graz bakery Hubert Auer was once again averted: After the company had to file for bankruptcy for the second time in June, the restructuring plan has now been accepted. However, several branches were closed.
Last June, the well-known Graz bakery chain Hubert Auer had to file for bankruptcy for the second time since 2020. The reason was failed investments; claims amounting to approximately 1.84 million euros were registered. During the meeting at the Regional Civil Court on Tuesday in Graz, 1.41 million euros was recognized, AKV and KSV1870 report.
The creditors accepted a quota of 20 percent. The company (which has been out of the family for some time) can therefore continue with a current workforce of 25. The branches in the shopping town of Seiersberg, the Grazer Ankerstrasse and the Unesco Esplanade, in Peggau and Hausmannstätten were closed on September 18, as well as parts of the head office (including the pastry shop). This leaves 10 of the last 16 branches.
