Inflation is hitting parents hard and the country is helping with various measures. This can amount to several thousand euros per family per year. Now there was a review of the measures – including the Burgenland ski sets.
Rent, energy, food: costs have risen in almost all areas of life. An increasing part of a person’s income has to be spent on daily necessities. Many things are being left out because they are no longer affordable for families. At the same time, Christmas is approaching. To relieve parents in these difficult times, the state of Burgenland is taking many different measures.
20,000 hours of tutoring
Burgenland is the first state to offer voluntary and free tutoring to students at primary and secondary schools, general special schools and polytechnic schools. 4,235 children have already taken advantage of this, with a total of approximately 20,000 hours spent. “According to a study, the average cost of tutoring is approximately 750 euros per child per school year,” explains State Councilor for Education Daniela Winkler. There is also digital guidance at the learning and holiday camps.
Funding for lunch
The country also pays for lunch. For educational and care institutions for children, primary schools, secondary schools and general special schools, lunch contributions are financed up to 75 percent, depending on family income. This calculation key is also used for music school contributions to provide music education to children and young people.
So far 112 Burgenland ski sets have been released
Financially weak families should also be able to participate in sports and project days. School events and excursions put a heavy burden on the budget. In the autumn, the state awarded a total of 2,784 sporting goods vouchers worth 200 euros each to all children in the sixth grade. Of these, 689 have been exchanged so far, 112 of which have been for a set of Team Burgenland skis. However, it is expected that many of the vouchers will not be redeemed until before or around Christmas.
