According to information on Thursday, the Comer Group, led by billionaire Luke Comer, has successfully completed the acquisition of the Magna Racino in Ebreichsdorf (Baden district). The Lürßen Group has sold to the Irishman. New director Siegmund Kahlbacher said they are “decided to unleash the potential of the Magna Racino and work with the city, state and district on the development of innovative projects.”
According to a press release, the Magna Racino, which was last known as Ebreichspark, will be called Comer City in the future. There are several ideas and concepts for a new chapter to be opened, but management will “coordinate” them accordingly. Official appointments are expected to begin in February “to develop a common path forward.”
Stronach built an equestrian park
Magna Racino’s history dates back to the early 2000s, when the area was taken over by Frank Stronach. In the spring of 2004, the opening of the horse racing department was celebrated. It closed at the end of the 2007 season. Economic expectations were not met.
According to Thursday’s broadcast, Kahlbacher has been trying to look for partners since 2017. Sakoyah Beteiligungsverwaltungs GmbH, a subsidiary of the private foundation Wiener Holster of the Bremen shipyard owner Peter Lürßen, became the new owner in 2020. The takeover is now being carried out by the Comer Group, specialized in real estate development.
