More passengers, but: – Austrian airlines 2024 with a weaker result

Date:

Austrian airlines (AUA) was able to increase the number of passengers, the number of flights and turnover by five percent in the previous year, but the adapted result (adapted EBIT) collapsed 40 percent to 76 million euros.

This was justified with heavy negotiations on collective agreement with the flying staff and the associated business meetings and strike days and with the conflict in the middle East.

Ukraine conflict costs 40 million
The AUA sets the costs due to the conflict of the collective contract and the resulting restraint of passengers in bookings at around 35 million euros. Because the airline had to remove countless flights from the program for months because of the conflict in the middle, it escaped around 40 million euros. As a result, the operational result (EBIT) collapsed by 43 percent to EUR 73 million.

The number of flights increased
The annual turnover of the airline rose by five percent to EUR 2.46 billion. Despite the difficulties, the AUA was also able to increase the number of flights in the previous year by five percent to 119,127. The number of passengers also increased by five percent to around 14.59 million people.

Total expenditure in billions
However, total expenditure also increased by eight percent by EUR 2.47 billion. For this year, the airline strives again for a result in the reach of three digital million. In the medium term, the EBIT-Marge-Moest has recently been eight percent at 3.1 percent.

Focus on punctuality
This year the focus will be on the subject of punctuality: although 80.2 percent, people still have the ten most punctual airlines in Europe, but you want to get back to the top 3. In the previous year, the AUA cut off considerably better with 84.4 percent.
