The spring round for some of the largest industrial sectors in Austria starts next Wednesday. It is announced by the paper industry with 8,000 employees, followed by the electrical and electronics industry, which has more than 60,000 employees.
A week later, the wage and salary negotiations for 50,000 employees in the chemical industry start. The glass industry ends on May 20 (7,000 employees). The starting point is a rolling inflation of 2.8 percent. Statistics Austria publishes the consumer price index for February on 19 March.
The trade unions Pro-GE and GPA issued a clear rejection on Friday. “The Rounds of Nulll do not keep the business location. On the contrary, a functioning economy needs people who have enough money to buy products and consume services, ”said Chief Doporators Reinhold Binder (pro-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA) in a broadcast.
No negotiations in the textile industry
This year there are no negotiations for the approximately 7,500 employees in the textile industry. In this industry, the 2025 increase was agreed last year. The minimum wage of the collective agreement and the actual wages will be increased by 0.3 percent on 1 April. The new minimum basic content is being increased to more than 2000 euros.
Among other things, there has been a diploma among the bus drivers. Five negotiation rounds were needed here. The 12,000 employees receive a real wage increase of 3.6 percent with January 1.
