Specialists are sought everywhere and open learning places are also registered with the AMS. But being more and more young without work.
At first glance, the current statistics of the Labor Market Service (AMS) are not that gloomy. In Lower Austria, the number of unemployed has only increased by 2.4 percent compared to March of the previous year – that is the lowest increase in all federal states. However, the second look goes into the cloudy. Because with 45,528 people who are registered as an unemployed person, the largest federal state without jobs is the home of Vienna.
Brightblows – or not?
Especially for the youth, AMS -Baas Sandra Kern sees a glimmer of hope. “The shortage of trained employees of domestic companies will increase in the future, because many people with an internship will retire in the coming years,” she predicts “a good starting situation” for young people. However: except for the labor market, this does not seem to have touched. Because in the age segment up to 24 years the increase in unemployment with an increase of 5.8 percent is highest in March. For comparison: with the 50+ generation there was only an increase of 2.7 percent.
The construction sector is slowly attracting
The job losses have also been shifted within the industry. Most jobs have been lost in technical services. Unemployment, on the other hand, fell in construction. And there are also major differences in the demand for work. The number of vacancies in the health care system in Lower Austria has increased by more than 10 percent within a year, in the catering trade by more than 20 percent.
