Hummus affected-after mega recall

Because Salmonella has been detected in a raw material, the delicacies of Wojnar mentioned 29 articles that contain Hummus in recent days. The amount of damage and the consequences for the supplier are still open.

First package sizes of 500 grams and one kilo were hit by wholesalers of food and fresh logistics. Then Rewe International also informed its customers about the recall of 19 different products. Reason: Salmonella Risk! Located by internal quality controls at Wojnar’s. The food manufacturer, in which many first think of fork, egg salad or liptauer, had found Tafin Salmonella in the raw material. Tahin is in turn used at Wojnar to produce hummus.

The reaction followed quickly: as a precaution called the company that belonged to the Linz Vivatis group, all affected products in which the raw material was processed mentioned. A total of 29 articles from consumers can be returned to the original points of sale. Bio-Hummus and also all other products from the Wojnar range are not influenced by the Tahin dilemma.

What damage this reception campaign causes? Wojnar’s is shut. The analysis of the effects is currently still underway, according to the traditional company from Vienna. There are therefore no reliable information about the total claim measure. At the moment the focus is on the implementation of the recall. The company, which has delivered the Tachin that has been polluted with Salmonella, is intensive on the test -also in terms of further delivery and quality. It has not yet been clarified whether further measures are required.

“Pure precautions”
Incidentally, all previous analyzes of Salmonella could not demonstrate in any end product. “The recall is therefore a pure precautionary measure,” emphasizes.

Food manufacturers constantly check the quality of the products they process and also of the items that are ultimately for sale. X -ray devices and sensors come to the train in the productions, and food also ends up in the laboratory and are analyzed. Almost ordinary should be prevented that something has to be mixed that does not belong there. However, you cannot prevent it.
