About two -thirds of the Austrian people investigated are planning a summer vacation. The majority must keep an eye on the costs. For example, saving is stored during the duration of stay (23 percent) and the expenditure on location (22 percent).
This mainly applies to the middle age group between 35 and 59, which often traveled with children. The younger age group (16 to 34 years old) tends to use cheap accommodations or uses early birds. The 60PLUS generation is often more flexible in time, avoids high season and relies on short -term offers. A third of the 1015 respondents stated in the Sandander Financial Barometer so as not to save on vacation.
Financing with holiday payment and savings
Respondents finance the summer vacation, mainly with their holiday review or continuous income (70 percent). In second place, savings are 28 percent. Young people in particular also depend on subsidies from family members (13 percent of the less than 34-year-old versus five percent in all ages). Loans or accounting play a subordinate role (three percent).
The budget per head of the population runs for the ÖAMTC travel monitor 2025 with 1200 euros per person. The most popular holiday countries are Austria, Italy and Croatia. Carinthia, Styria and Lower Austria are mainly in demand in Germany. According to the survey, 17 percent remember this year without a summer vacation.
According to another survey, about a quarter travels on the Whitsun weekend. Most holidaymakers stayed in Germany, top destinations were also Carinthia and Lower Austria, but also Salzburg. According to this survey, many Austrians reduce their spending in their spare time to finance a trip in the summer.
