From autumn, an innovation in the house will be for those 5.8 million people who use the Finanzonline platform for their employee review. A different safety factor is needed for access from 1 October. However, the possibility of entering ID Austria is not influenced.
Employee reviews are one of the central functions of Finanzonline, said Minister of Finance Markus Marterbauer (Spö) on Wednesday in a joint press conference with State Secretary Barbara Eibinger-Miedl (ÖVP). About 83 percent of around six million tax returns would be submitted online. 36 percent of users log in to the portal via ID Austria.
Marterbauer: “Security increased again”
This is mandatory from 1 October, if an alternative can be logged in via a TOTP-Two-Factorauthentication integrated in Finanzonline. “This increases the safety of the personal data again,” says Marterbauer. From 1 October you can no longer log in via the login and the password.
Analog applications remain possible
State Secretary Eibinger-Miedl ensured that no smartphone is needed for the revised access, but can be granted with an extra program on the laptop. “At the same time, however, it remains possible to continue to do tax matters analogue to the corresponding tax office forms to exclude anyone,” said the State Secretary.
