Iker Casillas, star signing of TVE

Date:

The exporter joins as a commentator for the Qatar World Cup to be broadcast on public television in November and December

From the football field to the small screen, Real Madrid exporter Iker Casillas will make his debut on RTVE with a very different job than he has used us: he will be a commentator at the World Cup in Qatar during the Spanish team’s matches. A task that, as he explained during the presentation of the new season of the programming of the public corporation from Callao (Madrid), he takes on a little “understated” because it is more difficult for him to tell football than to play balls against to keep. “I am grateful for this opportunity and the learning I am going to get,” said the player, who is “sure” that Spain will play “a worthy role” and bring the second star to his country. “There have to be some conditions for that to happen, but we’ll have the illusion.”

The Qatar World Cup is the culmination of the new RTVE season that started last Monday. For the first time, the sports championship will be played at the end of the year and not in the summer. It will be a special appointment for the company, which after 24 years – the last published in France in 1998 – is regaining the rights to the biggest football event in the world after it was in the hands of private television. On this occasion, between 19 and 20 matches out of 64 in the competition will be offered in the open air, including those of Spain, the opening match and the grand final.

Information also remains a fundamental pillar in RTVE’s programming. La 1 premiered this week with the new stage of ‘La Hora de La 1’ and the current affairs program ‘Hablando Claro’, with which the public channel strengthens the morning slot linked to the live show. The ‘Telediarios’ will continue unchanged, with the exception of the first edition, which is already presented by Alejandra Herranz. Ana Blanco received a standing ovation from those present during the presentation of the season and confirmed that she will remain connected to public television: «I am preparing a new project. I hope we continue to surprise and delight,” Blanco said, thanking viewers for allowing her “into their homes” for 32 years.

Journalist Carlos Franganillo will continue to direct ‘Telediario 2’, although he will soon lead a new format that is expected to premiere in the fall. There will be four documentaries that “look to the future” with themes that “touch us all”, as the Asturian journalist announced, such as artificial intelligence or energy. “It will have a very intense rhythm,” he continued. In addition, they continue ‘En Portada’, with Lorenzo Milá, and the veteran ‘Informe Semanal’ celebrates his 50th birthday. “With quality reports, a mythical tune and an audience that is very loyal to us,” emphasized the current presenter, Marisa Rodríguez Palop.

In the afternoon, the first TVE channel also prepares changes. In addition to ‘El Cazador’ and ‘Aquí la Tierra’, there will be a new internationally successful competition: ‘El Comodín de La 1′, presented by Aitor Albizua (ETB), which will test the participants’ knowledge of the general culture, with which they can earn up to 30,000 euros.

Xavier Sardá returns to public broadcasting with ‘La gran confusion’, a ‘prime time’ talk show format featuring celebrity interviews, humor and ‘unpredictable stories’. “It will be a monographic magazine, on subjects of a certain force: the couple, the family, money… It’s about distracting it a bit, making it very funny and having fun,” the Catalan continued.

Music will also be present in the new program, with the premiere of ‘Incredible Duos’, which Juan y Medio will lead very soon, and the second edition of ‘Benidorm Fest, whose final will take place on February 4, 2023. The main novelty of the Eurovision pre-selection is that the singer Mónica Naranjo will act as presenter of the galas, although Máximo Huerta, Inés Hernand and Alaska remain linked to the program.

Fiction will continue to occupy a privileged place on the grid, with proposals such as ‘Power of Peace’, ‘Without Borders’, ‘Doctor García’s Patients’, ‘Crossfire’, ‘The Hunt. Guadiana’ or the third season of ‘HIT’.

For its part, La 2 will premiere from Monday to Thursday at 8.30 pm with a cultural news program entitled ‘Culturas2’, with Paula Sainz Pardo. “We are going to be aware of the cultural agenda. Our goal is to showcase the great cultural, national, international and local movement. And pending initiatives that create prosperity and life,” explains the presenter.

In addition, TVE’s second channel will broadcast new seasons of ‘Flash Moda’, featuring Nieves Álvarez, ‘A Country in the Dance’, ‘Órbita Laika’ and ‘The Adventure of Knowledge’, which celebrates 30 years on the air. And it offers the interviews of María Casado in ‘The Three Doors’, which changes channels with the second season.
