Nearly sixty properties of the region are included in the Hispania Nostra . Red List

Date:

The Casa Torre Falcón, in Espinardo (Murcia), an example of local Baroque architecture from the 18th century, is the latest addition to the region of Murcia which is Hispania Nostra (a non-profit association for the enhancement and defense of cultural and natural heritage) included in the red list. A list of heritage sites in serious danger of disappearing, which in the case of the Region totals more than 50: 51 according to the search for the term Murcia, between 61 and 67, according to the interactive map of the Hispania Nostra website.

Also this year, in May, the Casa Torre Falcón was joined by the Palacete Valero, in San José de la Vega, also dating from the 18th century, as well as the Castellar de Churra, the Alquibla irrigation canal, the Castillo del Portazgo , Casa Blanca , in Los Ramos, the Torre y Molino del Batán and the Molino Alfatego, all of which have been added to the Hispania Nostra red list this year.

This list, which is being expanded at the suggestion of groups and citizens warning Hispania Nostra of the risk of an important asset, continues to grow due to the lack of investment in the restoration and restoration of a forgotten heritage. And, unlike what is happening in Burgos and other provinces of Castilla y León, where the idea of crowdfunding has not only worked, but also produced excellent results in preserving and restoring abandoned cultural properties, it has found no place in the Region . And, as the deputy of the association in the region, Miguel San Nicolás, has not penetrated, although “I think it would be a success for those small communities or associations associated with a specific site.” Although it does not exclude that any association or group that sees this ideal initiative to recover cultural heritage, will launch it with the support of the aforementioned national association.
