The Guerra Theater also hosts screenings of ‘Paris, 13th arrondissement’, ‘Band apart’, ‘A tooth of the dog’ and ‘Fire of love’
The autumn programming of Cineclub Paradiso de Lorca starts on Wednesday. During this last quarter of the year, the Guerra Theater hosts the screening of films every Wednesday in two sessions, at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Admission is free to all places.
Five films will be screened in October, November and December; ‘Cinco lobitos’ (26 October), winner at the Malaga Film Festival; ‘Paris, 13th Arrondissement’ (November 2), by French director Jacques Audiard; ‘Band apart’, in tribute to the recently deceased director Jean Luc Godard (9 November); ‘A Tooth of the Dog’ (24 November), directed by José Luis Estaño from Alicante and produced by the Lorca brothers Juan and Pedro Poveda; and ‘Fire of love’ (December 14), a documentary about volcanoes that made famous the scientific couple who filmed it for several years and the love story that emerged from this unique adventure.
The short film competition ‘A Corta Distancia’ (16 and 17 November), which has been dedicated to local productions for 11 years, will also be held. Once again, the appointment had to be extended to two days to accommodate the large representation of works sent to the jury of the competition by the increasingly numerous filmmakers from Lorca.
The Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos, “encourages all film lovers to enjoy this spectacular programme, as suggestive and varied as it is international and local, organized by Cineclub Paradiso for this fall and in an incomparable setting such as the Teatro Guerra”.
The director of the Cineclub Paradiso, Jesús Martínez, indicates that “the film chosen to open the program is ‘Cinco lobitos’, hailed by critics and the public as one of the great titles of Spanish cinema in 2022”.
