Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Spain in men and the third with the highest death rate. It is estimated that one in five Hispanic women will experience it during their lifetime. However, early detection makes it possible to fix it in 75% of cases. To make this reality visible and encourage the male population to undergo early detection tests, the National Association of Prostate Cancer Patients (ANCAP) has launched the ‘Kilometers for Movember’ initiative. The aim of this action, in which the cycling, athletics and triathlon federations work together and promoted by the Portavoz agency, is to make society aware that it is in our power to change this reality. To do this, a challenge open to everyone has been set up: move one kilometer for every prostate cancer diagnosis that will be in Spain by 2022, according to the estimate of the Spanish Network of Cancer Registries (REDECAN). A total of 30,884 km.

The professional cyclist Luis León Sánchez is the godfather of this project open to the participation of all. The necessary kilometers can be added walking, running, cycling or swimming. “The most important thing is to move and share it, especially to share it, because the more miles we travel, the more visibility we will give to prostate cancer and help raise awareness and improve the quality of life of our parents, brothers and sisters.” sisters, children and friends,” explains César Camuñas. , vice president of ANCAP. Pruden Guerrero, president of the Athletics Federation, believes that “in this age of campaigns it is important to raise awareness and make this type of disease visible, thus encouraging all men to do the necessary checks at critical ages.” to prevent the disease from progressing and can be eradicated.

Diego Calvo, President of the Triathlon Federation, emphasizes the importance “to be able to contribute our grain of sand to this campaign.” Likewise, Miguel Fernández, president of the cycling federation, emphasizes “the pride of being able to participate in this project.”

To participate in this challenge, all you need to do is drive the miles everyone is considering and share it on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #KmxMovember and tag the National Prostate Cancer Association. All actions will be monitored via the kilometerrospormovember.com website.
