The Regional Film Library Francisco Rabal will premiere this Thursday the programming of its section in Cartagena with the screening of the documentary ‘El Cabo Azul’ (Emilio Gil, 2022) within the cycle dedicated to Murcian filmmakers. This edition also includes films by new directors and a monographic cycle on technology.
The film library has 18 titles scheduled through April and doubles the number of screenings from previous editions, with a new film on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Notable in the proposal for the season is the new monograph ‘Cinema and Engineering’, in collaboration with the UPCT, in which eight films address the relationship between these two disciplines, which have many aspects in common behind the screen.
Van mechanical engineering, with automated processes and robotic mechanisms, for example, is about the first of the titles of the ‘Metropolis’ cycle (Fritz Lang, 1927), scheduled for February 7. The Oscar-winning ‘A Beautiful Mind’ (Ron Howard, 2001) is scheduled for February 14. On February 21 ‘Her’ (Spike Jonze, 2013). And on Tuesday the 28th ‘The Flight of the Phoenix’ (Robert Aldrich, 1965).
The monograph continues in March with Steven Spielberg’s film ‘Artificial Intelligence’ (2001) and other titles such as ‘The Spring’ (King Vidor, 1949); ‘Gattaca’ (Andrew Niccol, 1997) and ‘Land of the Pharaohs’ (Howard Hawks, 1955). The screenings take place in the Fundación Mediterráneo and admission is free.
