The Association of Graphic Designers and Art Directors of Catalonia awards its highest recognition to Murcian studios
The Association of Graphic Designers and Art Directors for the Promotion of Arts and Design of Catalonia (ADG-FAD) has awarded its two greatest awards, the Grand Laus, to two Murcian design studios: F33 and La Negrita, which have faced yet more propose 1,200 once. “I think it’s the first time something like this has happened,” admits F33’s David Brugarolas. “It’s normal to win a bronze, silver or gold Laus, but the surprise is that they gave us a prize above those categories,” he says. In addition, the LII edition of the ADG Laus Awards honored six other studios in the region: Mala Estudio Creativo, Sublima Studio, Estudio BUAS, Somos Fellas, Estudio Maba and Rubio & del Amo.
Both the work of La Negrita Estudio and that of F33 were performed for clients in Madrid. The first is a digital guide to cardiac surgery, created for the Gregorio Marañón Hospital, consisting of 150 illustrations and 15 audio episodes. The second, F33, was requested by the Madrid City Council to raise awareness about the lack of universal accessibility to the city’s streets, avenues and sidewalks. The images can be displayed on audiovisual screens and marquees (advertising posters usually found at bus stops or on physical media). Some messages appear in these images that are difficult to read due to the presence of a visual obstacle. The goal is that when you read and “decipher that message through the obstacle”, you experience a sensation similar to that of a person with limited mobility trying to get onto a sidewalk or cross a street.
Some of the selected works can be seen in the exhibition The Best Design of the Year, the show that Fomento de las Artes y el Diseño (FAD) is hosting at the Barcelona Design Museum until August 28.
