Esther Nevado: “The Murcia electronic office allows you to perform a large number of procedures without going to La Glorieta”

Date:

Murcia’s City Council is progressing at cruising speed in its ‘smart city’ project, which aims to make the municipality more intelligent, sustainable and friendly. In this process, it has put the citizen at the center so that they are participants and protagonists of this profound transformation, bringing them closer to all solutions, from the electronic headquarters to the application to communicate any incident that occurs on the public road. “The aim is to change the form of access and consultation by citizens,” explains alderman for Health and Digital Transformation Esther Nevado.

How is the digital relationship between Murcians and the local government?

-Currently, new technologies are very much present in the city council. The administration has an electronic office that allows a large number of procedures to be carried out without having to appear in person at La Glorieta. Thanks to a new set of web portals that will be launched this year, a lot of work has been done to make as much information as possible available to citizens and tourists who come to the municipality.

On the other hand, thanks to the Smart City project, the City Council has revolutionized its approach to citizens, allowing on the one hand more proactive communication and, at the same time, giving citizens the opportunity to participate in the various improvements that can be done in your municipality . In addition, the citizen has an ‘app’ for civil cooperation, TuMurcia (www.tumurcia.es), which allows citizens to inform us about incidents on public roads, make new suggestions or even participate in various investigations that the city council starts.

What new projects does the municipality want to develop to promote the digital transformation of the municipality?

–The information that a municipality manages is essentially related to the territory, so we have developed several initiatives aimed at facilitating access to information and making it much more accessible through the geolocation on maps that can be consulted thanks to projects funded by ‘Next Generation EU’ funds. The aim is to change the form of citizen access and consultation.

What roadmap is Murcia following to position itself as a technology hub?

– Murcia City Council is taking the necessary steps to become a reference not only nationally, but also internationally in the field of smart cities. One of the actions is to bring the technical managers of the main municipal councils in Spain to Murcia in September to get to know our “smart city”, organize a technical committee of the RECI (Smart Cities Network) and then use media impact analysis tools. use of the organized event. We must show that it is necessary to know what is going on in the city, in order to be able to act appropriately and informed.

What is the outcome of the Single Monitoring Center (CEUS), the brain of ‘Murcia Smart City’ designed to manage the city more intelligently?

–CEUS is a set of very powerful tools to analyze and process the data generated in the Smart City Platform. Using an example, we can install all kinds of sensors such as environmental stations, sound sensors, filling waste containers, parking spaces (PMR and VE)… And traffic control systems such as control cameras or traffic management systems, traffic light signalling.
