Family movie classics return to Cartagena for another summer. For the third year in a row, the ‘Ficcmoteca de Verano’ programmed a program full of cinematic hits from the 1980s and 1990s, such as ‘Jumanji’, ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Dragonheart’ and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’, according to municipal sources. it’s a statement.
Screenings take place on Tuesdays in August in the Paco Martín auditorium, starting at 10 p.m. and admission is free, without prior reservation, until full capacity is reached. The initiative was promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICC).
The full program was presented by the Deputy Councilor for Culture, Carlos Piñana, accompanied by the President of the FICC, Nacho Ros. The mayor explained that this project, included in this summer’s cultural program, “has a cinema program for the whole family, designed to enjoy on the big screen and in the open air the great successes of the 1980s that are already be a classic”.
In line with this, Piñana reminded that this is a great opportunity for parents to teach these works to their children. “It is a film series back to nostalgia, to relive other times of our lives, accompanied by the little ones in the house, between ghosts, dragons, knights and animated rabbits,” added the mayor.
Cartagena International Film Festival’s president, Nacho Ros, underlined the great reception this summer activity has had, as “despite the restrictions suffered by COVID-19 over the past two years, there has been a large influx of audiences”. In this way, they hope from the organization that this edition will attract more visitors.
Ros pointed out that this third edition “has a careful selection of films, to enjoy the best open-air cinema on August evenings and respect the traditional spirit of summer cinemas.”
Programming begins on August 2nd with the movie ‘Who Framed Robert Rabbit?’; and continues on August 9 with ‘Ghostbusters’; on August 16 with ‘Dragonheart’ (Dragon Heart); and will close on August 23 with ‘Jumanji’.
