The festival maintains its commitment to teaching with various courses and masterclasses
Within the training offer of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, this 61st edition offers a series of courses and masterclasses by great professional flamenco artists. Flamenco enthusiasts and those interested in this formation will have access to a series of personal training events from July 31 to August 5 in different enclaves of La Unión associated with the festival, such as the stage of the Old Public Market and the Cultural Center Asensio Sáez , also with an ‘online’ course via the Zoom platform.
One of those courses is the one that Rebeca Monasterio gives from 3 to 5 August, focusing on the technique, choreography and language of tablao within flamenco dance. The Catalan bailaora, with more than fifteen years of career in tablaos across the country, will teach a basic-medium level in cantiña, and an advanced level with seguiriya and taranto detail.
Cartagena percussionist Javier Martínez Rabadán, who since 2010 has accompanied a wide variety of current flamenco artists who have taken him to stages around the world, will lead a personal flamenco percussion course divided into two levels, basic and intermediate, at 3 and August 4. Antonio Muñoz, Bordón Minero since 1989 and official guitarist of the Festival since 2000, will give a personal flamenco guitar course for secondary school students on August 1 and 2, aimed at accompanying the Cantes de Levante. The other flamenco guitar course is given from 1 to 3 August via Zoom for an intermediate advanced level, and is given by David Caro, from Almería, accompanist of Juan Pinilla, El Carpeta and Farruquito among others. others.
The dance training also includes two masterclasses: one of these will be given on July 31 by Farruquito, a dancer with an international career who is also part of the poster for this edition of the festival. The second is on August 2 with El Yiyo, another artist who will perform in Cante de las Minas this year and who, despite his youth, has a huge projection.
Registration for the courses and masterclasses is possible via the Cante de las Minas website, where detailed information about them is also available: festivalcantedelasminas.org/formacion
