The ‘yes is yes’ thing

Date:

Once a vote has been taken on the reform of the sadly controversial ‘yes is yes’ law, we can analyze what happened. The other day I heard Eduardo Madina make a pretty reasonable guess at the Angels Barceló meeting and I totally agree with that. I think he’s a man who tends to do fairly accurate, honest, and non-sectarian analysis. The first thing to keep in mind is that the famous law is not something that Irene Montero arrived in one morning and wrote on her own. No. The Ministry has a team of people, certainly well-fed and, above all, legal advice. But it is that Irene Montero is part of a government that includes the PSOE, which has a piece of cabinet in the presidency with more legal advisers. But it is that the socialist party itself is a party with a great structure with legal teams and supporters and affiliates working in the prosecutor’s office, in the judiciary and some in high instance courts, so how can something like this slip through? Shit. Because we can go as far as we want, but the law, which contains very positive aspects, has gone down in history by allowing both a reduced sentence and 721 sex offenders and the release of 74 of them. The most serious aspect of the matter was not the mistake, because we all make mistakes and so do politicians, what is inexcusable is the insistence on mistakes. And that has been Montero’s worst statement that threatens to destroy his political career. Many of us noticed initially, and I refer to the first week, a certain excess of zeal on the part of the judiciary in its application, and there the “fachas con toga” began to sound, but as the years have passed, months and we found so many resolutions that lowered the sentences, that argument was invalidated, as they have been issued by Conservative, Progressive, and half-board judges. This has confirmed that the law had a flaw and not a small one. Because? And here comes the million-dollar question: why did Sánchez allow the endorsement? Since none of us believe they were unaware that the law was leaking on this issue, I myself watched a video of a PSOE senator himself warning of what was about to happen before it was passed. And here’s where the conspiracy theories come in: There are those who say that Sánchez, who is very tall, let things continue to wear down his purple partners and found a perfect excuse to do without them. I don’t know if it was, but if that was the move, things got out of hand and he backfired against the chief executive with a huge boomerang effect. And since Sánchez is a ‘killer’, he had to neutralize this. responsibilities. Having said this, politically speaking, the person responsible is none other than Irene Montero, who should resign immediately for two reasons. One because of his political responsibility, he is the minister and the law has been a fiasco. I don’t want to imagine the future responsibilities of the state should some of the 74 released commit serious crimes, which is not unlikely since the sex offender is usually a repeat offender. Second, because it was rejected by the president who appointed her minister. That you make a law, amend it, and that your president votes not on your amendments, but on his, which go against what you wanted, and that you rely on the opposition, is more than enough reason for Montero to dignify the executive to leave power. We can get something positive out of this and that’s for once! the two major parties have voted together to make a mess of it. It is true that the socialist bank did not seem very happy and Sánchez had the ugly detail of being absent from the vote in the style of ‘M. Rajoy point. You have to be tough and fat, and if you have to show your face at a difficult moment, that’s a given, they pay you for that. In short, I agree with the enlightened Madina who described this entire episode as a disaster from start to finish and that shows, and it goes for PSOE and PP, that certain companies are only harming them because ‘with whom do children sleep ..’ .’. Let’s see if they take note and both throw themselves into the center we take out of all this.
