Bullying is in the news again this week, a true nightmare that seems to be running again after the pandemic. Last Tuesday, May 2, was celebrated the international day against this monstrosity, which has gained more and more ground, something unimaginable that puts us before a reality that slips from our hands, while the tragic consequences grow, as we have verified. We will have to ask ourselves what is happening in educational centers, on the streets and in families so that violence is directed against the weakest. The new situations in which the cases of harassment that surprise us more and more find refuge in the misuse of technological devices and in social networks, where the violent content that our minors see spreads and feeds itself in large quantities, without scruples and with total normality to prime their performance. At this point, no one doubts that we are dominated by a technological world and that many adolescent social practices are structured through digital platforms, where they socialize and create their identities. On the contrary, families and teachers feel that we live side by side without knowing or knowing the consequences that this content could have, which in many cases affect the self-esteem and personality of minors. Most parents don’t know what to do from their space to exercise parental control over the messages their kids consume. At the same time, there will be those who think that it is the school that is responsible for putting obstacles in front of children and that it is the teachers who are fully engaged in this war. The management of educational centers when it comes to detecting and reducing bullying episodes is on the table. Teachers state that they feel overwhelmed and are demanding more resources to tackle an increasingly complex problem. To stop bullying we will have to broaden our view, because let’s not forget that bullying is not something for children, we are all responsible for stopping this scourge.
