As the fourth candidate, the head of the anti-vaccination party MFG, Michael Brunner, said on Thursday that he had the necessary statements of support for a candidacy in the federal presidential elections. According to Brunner, who thanked all his supporters, he would hand them over to the federal electoral authority on August 31.
The day before, lawyer and ex-Krone columnist Tassilo Wallentin and ex-politician (FPÖ and BZÖ) and current blogger Gerald Grosz also announced that they had received the 6,000 statements of support needed to get started. Late last week, Dominik Wlazny, better known as “Marco Pogo”, was the first candidate to submit his candidate to the federal electoral authority.
Both the incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen and the candidate nominated by the National Council Party FPÖ, Walter Rosenkranz, initially kept secret about the status of the collected statements of support. However, both teams recently said things were going “very well”. Rosencrantz also invited people to a press conference on Thursday where the election posters will be presented.
