Matute says that “the tension and the fight is constant”

Date:

The deputy of EH Bildu added that “everything that is done in this government is not of our own free will, but because we are putting pressure on it”. Now a month-long period opens to table amendments to the energy bill, which was approved as a project in Congress yesterday.

Óscar Matute, Deputy for EH Bildu in Congress of the delegates, indicated that “the negotiations, the tension and the struggle are constant” with the Spanish government, and that “it will now be time” to continue, in view of the month of the deadline starting at to table amendments before the decree on savings and energy efficiency passed in the House yesterday, finally as a bill.

In an interview held in the Radio Euskadi’s ‘Boulevard’ programMatute added that “everything that is done in this government is not of our own free will, but because we put pressure on it”.

As the coalition delegate explained, in line with what was said yesterday, there were two elements that led them to ultimately vote for the decree. “The first is a general consideration”, given the situation of climate emergency, so that “the level of compliance with Kyoto, Glasgow and Paris would be accelerated”. “That has been addressed, an agreement has been reached to accelerate the level of compliance.”

The second, that “the autonomous communities will have more resources, that the Autonomous Community of Euskadi and Navarra has more resources to plan and organize according to their specificity. From there we decided to give the green light.”

“In EH Bildu we are relatively proud of the things we getin Madrid, he said. Matute explained in this sense that “everything that is done in this government is not of our own free will, but because we insist”. If it were not so, he stated: “Probably there would be no social shield, or all the protective measures that have prevented people from living in even more bloody poverty.”
