Negotiations between the federal government and the city of Vienna on financial support in the billions as a result of the emergency at Wien Energie failed overnight. Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP) has been in negotiations with Alderman Peter Hanke (SPÖ) since Tuesday morning, because it is not yet entirely clear which transactions have taken place on the stock exchange, Brunner emphasized in the Ö1 “Morgenjournal”. Minister of Finance and Minister of Energy Leonore Gewessler (Greens) will shortly inform the public about the current state of affairs.
The federal government has the tools, they also want to help, but at the same time Brunner made it clear in the run-up to the talks – as he had already told the “Krone”: “The city of Vienna still has a lot to do.”
