From April 9 – Federal Council gives green light for living room tests

Date:

The Federal Council gave the green light on Thursday for the return of the Corona living room tests. This paves the way for this part of the new testing strategy from April 9. Everyone can now pick up five free self-tests per month from the pharmacy.

The second part of the testing strategy (five PCR tests per month) has already been regulated by regulation by Minister of Health Johannes Rauch (Groenen). The Federal Council approved the necessary amendments to the General Social Security Act (ASVG) and other SVs, as well as the Covid-19 Special Subsidy Act and the Health Telematics Act as legal basis for the recasting of the corona testing strategy.

Valid for all health-insured persons and surviving relatives
All persons with health insurance and their family members are entitled to the five antigen tests. The arrangement will apply until the end of June 2022, with the Minister of Health being able to extend the provisions by decree until the end of the year, according to parliamentary correspondence on Thursday.

Pharmacies receive reimbursements
The pharmacies receive a compensation of ten euros per package from the health insurers, which is reimbursed by the federal government through the Covid 19 crisis management fund. The pharmacies also receive a compensation of 15 euros from the health insurers for providing a drug provided and funded by the federal government for the treatment of Covid-19.
