Sortu’s political leader in Gipuzkoa, Aritz Arzallusassured in Donostia-San Sebastián this Sunday that it is up to the pro-independence left to “lead the necessary transformation in Euskal Herria” in the “time of great instability in which we live”.
Arzallus made this reflection moments before participating in a manifestation convened by the sovereign party under the slogan “Independetziarako indarra” (Strength for independence), coinciding with the second day of the La Concha traineras regattas.
“Despite being in a festive atmosphere, we must not forget that we live in a time of great instability, also in the Basque Country. And it is not a natural disaster as some want to sell us. Responsible, with first and last names,” he said. he.
“A radical transformation that puts life and care at the center of this country,” he added, “necessitates new leadership.” “It is clear that this leadership, in Euskal Herria, and what to say immediately in Gipuzkoa, must be taken over by the left-wing independence movement,” he noted.
She has affirmed that “it is the force for independence that will promote this great transformation”, “the feminist force, the Euskaldun, socialist, environmentalist, the peacemaker”.
The demonstration organized by Sortu started after 1.30 pm from the Boulevard de San Sebastián in a festive atmosphere, led by a truck with a stage on which a group played live music all along the route, passing through Calle Hernani, Avenida de la Libertad and Calle República Argentina, before finishing at the starting point.
The protest was led by a large banner with the slogan of the appeal, followed by several people carrying large banners with the words: “Feminist”, “Socialist”, “Ecology”, “Independence”, “Freedom” and “Euskal Herria”. euskaldun”.
Many of those in attendance, including several members of the Sortu National Council, also wore ikurriñas and flags of Navarre.
