Reimbursement of aid – U-Commission: Intense discussions about young farmers

Date:

Andreas Hanger (ÖVP) pointed out almost all questions in the ÖVP U Committee on Thursday – not to answer them, but to prevent them. Subject: Countless sub-associations of the Tyrolean young farmers / rural youth have to repay more than 816,000 euros in CoV aid to the NPO fund.

According to the investigation of the responsible ministry by Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens), they are attributable to the Tiroler Boerenbond, a sub-organization of the ÖVP Tyrol, and are therefore excluded from subsidies. The Tyroleans do not agree and will not pay for the time being. It is a partisan organization, not part of the ÖVP. In addition to Hanger, respondents from Tyrol also said ÖVP Regional Director Martin Malaun, Deputy Governor and President of the farmers’ association Josef Geisler and young farmer Dominik Traxl.

Ongoing debates on standing and standing orders
The mood was heated. According to the statutes, the young farmers are part of the opposition party and the Greens. Geisler and Co. had no idea about ads for ÖVP magazines. They doubted the admissibility of the questions. There were constant stand-ups and debates about the by-laws.

Young farmer’s boss: ‘Only informed about payments through the media’.
Remarkable is the answer that the young farmer Traxl got to the question when he heard about the more than 800,000 euros that had been paid out: “Only through media reports.” He had no insight into the local groups.
