In September, 237,409 people were registered as unemployed in Austria, 31,841 less than in the same week of 2021. The number of participants in the training also fell by 514 to 68,750 compared to the same week last year – the Ministry of Labor announced today that 306,159 people are currently unemployed (Monday). Currently, 5,943 people are registering for short-time working.
“The unemployment rate was 5.7 percent at the end of September. This is the lowest level in 14 years,” said Labor and Economy Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) in a broadcast. “This development shows once again that the Austrian labor market is currently defying geopolitical challenges and remaining stable.”
The number of students has also increased
At the end of September, there were a total of 108,091 apprentices in training throughout Austria. 32,314 people started an internship at a company in September this year. Compared to the same month last year, the number of new students increased by 6.8 percent.
