“Maybe bigger” – Doskozil warns about Wlazny, wonders about FPÖ

Date:

The results of last Sunday’s federal presidential elections showed that the leader of the Beer Party, Dominik Wlazny, should not be underestimated politically, especially in Vienna: “Perhaps a bigger factor for social democracy than for other parties,” Burgenland’s governor noted. Hans up. Peter Doskozil. He was also surprised by the performance of Walter Rosenkranz (FPÖ) in Carinthia.

In principle, the elections went as predicted and as expected – namely that there would be no second election, Doskozil initially stated in a statement to the APA. He warmly congratulated the re-elected Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.

‘I did not expect the FPÖ to be so strong in Carinthia’
But two factors are interesting about the result: “I did not expect that the FPÖ would be so strong in Carinthia. That surprised me a bit, especially when you consider that next year (on March 5, ed.) there will be state elections.” Second, he referred to Wlazny and his beer party, which has so far been ridiculed by many: “It will definitely play a role in the next state elections,” Doskozil warns his own ranks, especially for the SPÖ.

“Set topics and you’ll be chosen”
The SPÖ governor also spoke out in favor of “doing good politics, determining subjects, then you will be elected”. You should not look at your opponents, but focus on your own politics, the governor said.

In the federal presidential election, the official final results of which have been available since Monday evening, FPÖ candidate Rosenkranz won 17.68 percent of the vote across Austria, and 23.86 percent in Carinthia, which was ruled by the Reds. Satirist Wlazny, who put his alter ego Marko Pogo on hold for the federal presidential elections, achieved 8.31 percent nationally and even second place in Vienna with 10.70 percent.

The SPÖ, which had officially voted for Alexander Van der Bellen in the federal government in the Hofburg elections, recently celebrated an electoral success in Doskozil-Burgenland that was not expected “on this scale” – 48.8 percent in the municipal elections.
