The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, underlined the cooperation of the Aranzadi Science Society with the government policy for the restoration of historical and democratic memory, “especially in excavating the remains of disappeared persons or preparing the database on persons who died as a result of from the war.
A database of 21,000 records available to citizens, as Urkullu recalled in San Sebastián, on the occasion of the institutional visit to mark the 75th anniversary of Aranzadi. Together with the Lehendakari, councilors Arantxa Tapia, Bingen Zupiria and Beatriz Artolazabal took part.
In Urkullu’s words, these 75 years were “a permanent commitment to preserving and disseminating our heritage, nature and historical memory.”
The Society of Sciences is “investigating, knowing, sensitizing, valuing, protecting and promoting,” he stressed, adding that Aranzadi is “science in networks, professionalism and rigor, and research, dissemination and training.”
The Lehendakari thanked Aranzadi for his “dedication to the search and dissemination of scientific truth” and his working model, in which he emphasized “the spirit of cooperation based on social initiative”.
Likewise, he stated that Aranzadi celebrates this anniversary “looking at the past and building the future” and “proving that there is no future without science, nor past without memory”.
