“You can’t stand anything” is a motto of former tax official Dr. Christa Scharf, whom she now reconfirmed to the “Krone”: In the winter of 2016/17 she was the victim of the ÖVP job scam, which sent an objectively much less suitable ÖAAB official to the head of the Braunau-Ried-Schärding -tax flushed office. Interrogations by Thomas Schmid, then Secretary General of the Treasury Department, are now shedding light on what happened there. Mrs. Scharf observes the explosive developments with satisfaction.
On July 4, 2022, Thomas Schmid, formerly a powerful and enterprising Secretary General, described in detail in one of his testimony to the corruption prosecutor’s office how the chain of interventions took place that robbed Scharf of the crown on his career. This results in nearly 15 pages of minutes, with the many probing questions to Schmid show how important this topic was to the prosecutors.
unfairly discriminated against
The Federal Administrative Court previously ruled that Ms. Scharf was unfairly discriminated against – which can logically be linked to criminal charges of abuse of office.
It wasn’t easy to get the wish through
The Innviertler ÖVP politician August Wöginger is charged with inciting abuse of office for his intervention with Schmid (he rejects all criminally relevant charges). The minutes of Schmid’s interrogation show that (also accused) members of the nomination committee were almost scrupulous: “With a stomachache, but thumbs up”, according to a chatlog, a committee member reports the success to Schmid, who with “My hero!” answers.
According to Schmid, “with a stomachache” expresses that it was not easy to get Wöginger’s request for staff to the committee. “My hero!” stands for the fact that he, Schmid, was very happy that it was made for Wöginger after all. All this is confirmation and reason for satisfaction for Christa Scharf. She herself also filed a report because of Postenschacher. This procedure is still ongoing.
