The General Secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Anduezahas described as “unacceptablethe statements of the former Interior Minister, José Barrionuevo, in which he admits the dirty war.

In a statement sent to the media, the socialist leader believes the demonstrations in Barrionuevo “are intended to justify very serious, disgusting acts that go against democracy and the rule of law. They are reprehensible words, because they hurt the victims, they are unfair to them because they do not take them into account, they despise them. Moreover, they go against a society that has suffered the unspeakable and that has already repeatedly manifested itself against all manifestations of terrorism.” Andueza added that it will be the Justice that determines whether any responsibility flows from it.

Regarding the calls to condemn the activities of the GAL by those who “do not even today condemn terrorism in all its manifestations” or those who were “lukewarm or looked the other way”, Andueza specifies that the said “terrorist activities will always count on the condemnation and strong rejection of the Socialist Party of Euskadi“, so they are “pointless”.

Finally, he recalled that the institutional activities of the PSE-EE were aimed at delegitimizing terrorism and promoting the truth, justice and reparation that the victims deserve, while ensuring that the socialists, who “have of terrorism”, they have defended themselves against “the threat, its terrible consequences, always with the word, with the unquestionable, determined commitment of our militancy and our organization with human rights, with the right to life, with respect for the multitude of ideas”. “That’s how it has been and that’s how it will be in the future,” he concludes.
