Unemployed – what now? – Social assistance in the EU: who gets how much money

It all comes together: price increases, inflation, social disadvantages, personal fate, migration movements. The honestly formulated conclusion: “Many people can no longer cope with their lives.” This is reflected in the social systems of the EU countries. Using selected examples, we show which countries pay how much money for basic unemployment security and cost-of-living adjustment and why Austria is leading the way.

The sight on the way to an appointment on the boulevard Avenue George V in Paris makes you pause. In the middle of luxury shops and hotels, a homeless person is sleeping in a bus stop. He has placed a mattress on top of two rubbish bins to keep out the moisture on the floor. He seems to have given up. The sight is shocking and makes you think about the social system.
