Parliament is back. After nearly 130 years of continuous operation, the venerable building on Vienna’s Ringstrasse required five years of extensive renovation. Our representatives had to meet and work in alternative neighborhoods in the area. Unfortunately, the image of parliament and parliamentarians will not improve simply by returning to the parent company.
1. The parliament is distrusted by a clear majority. That is a democratic-political alarm signal, because – with the exception of non-voters and supporters of small parties – almost all of us have ‘our’ politicians in the National Council. We voted for one of the parliamentary groups in elections.
