Despite the increased turnout, the collapse of the ÖVP and things like price rises and inflation that could play into the party’s hands, the SPÖ had to record losses in the elections in Lower Austria on Sunday. “There will definitely be a presidential debate,” said Christoph Budin, head of the local editorial office of “Krone” in an interview with krone.tv.
This debate can be held both in Lower Austria and at the federal level. “Let’s see how long Hans-Peter Doskozil will remain silent. It should also be said that Doskozil supported the SPÖ’s top candidate, Franz Schnabl, in the elections in Lower Austria.”
In the meantime, provincial governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) tried a lot in the election campaign, in Lower Austria bonuses were already paid in the summer that people could only dream of in other states. “The last percentage was certainly not only due to the federal ÖVP, but also to the statement of the Federal President and perhaps also to the debate about the ORF as the TV of the state governor,” Budin is sure.
