Nerea Melgosa Vega becomes the new Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policy of the Basque Government, as replacement by Beatriz Artolazabalwho leaves office to prepare his candidacy for mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The Basque executive has informed in a note about the appointment of Melgosa as new director and the resignation of Artolazabal. Melgosa takes office tomorrowTuesday (09:00), in Ajuria Enea, where he will participate in the Council of Government.
Melgosa (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1970) knows well the department she will now lead, as she advises of the same. Previously she was director of Equality and Human Rights of the Diputación de Álava en Councilor of the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz for 12 years (from 2007 to 2019).
Melgosa has been affiliated with the PNV since the 1990s and is currently a member of the Euzkadi Buru Batzar (working on social issues). Basque (she studied at the ikastola Olabide in the capital of Alava) and has a degree in sociology and political science from the University of Deusto. He also has a master’s degree in Human Resources (EADA business school).
