Deferment denied – ex-mayor is now in prison for rape

Date:

The former mayor of Scharten, Jürgen Höckner, has now started his seven-year prison sentence. He had initially applied for a deferment of custody for health reasons, but that has now been rejected.

More than 16 months after the first-instance conviction for rape, the former ÖVP politician and member of the state parliament “started his prison sentence” in Wels on Thursday, a spokeswoman for the regional court in Wels reported. Which prison he will go to is yet to be determined. At the end of November 2022, the Higher Regional Court reduced the sentence by six months to seven years in prison.

Employee raped multiple times
Between 2014 and 2016, the former politician sexually harassed an employee twice, raped him three times and – when she finally broke her silence – slandered her. He still denies the deeds and speaks of an intrigue.

fine reduced
On October 4, 2021, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison by the Wels Regional Court. Since then, he has contested the sentencing verdict, but only succeeded in obtaining a reduced sentence. Most recently, the Higher Regional Court of Linz upheld its complaint against the rejection of the suspension of detention by the Wels Regional Court, the court spokeswoman continued.
