Three-quarters of the Basque population support referenda on political issues

These are data from a survey by the Sociological Prospecting Bureau of Lehendakaritza, which this time focused on analyzing the democratic culture of citizens. The fieldwork was carried out between 14 and 17 February, with a total of 1026 interviews with households in the Basque Country.

The survey also finds a “surging” interest in politics. The percentage of people showing an interest in politics has been increasing for some time, ranging from the minimum of 20% recorded in early 2010 to the current 42% who say they are “very or fairly” interested in politics. The level of intolerance is somewhat lower when it comes to agreeing with a trader or professional who does not charge VAT to pay less for a product or service (75%) and the highway speed limit (68%). Regarding this last question, it is worth noting that there is a difference between men and women as the latter are less indulgent in this fact (75%) compared to men (59%).
