Transitforum warns – “Imminent danger” in the driving bans for trucks in Tyrol

Date:

The subject of transit and the Tyrolean measures always cause a stir – especially among the southern and northern neighbors. The driving bans for trucks must not be violated – that is the consensus in Tyrol. But according to Transitforum, politicians are risking their survival by doing nothing. That should change. But how? Anti-transit fighter Fritz Gurgiser has a precise plan.

“The constant gossip from the South and North now demands tough positions from the state and federal government on the transit issue,” emphasizes Transitforum chairman Fritz Gurgiser. “Especially because bridges north and south of the Brenner Pass have already been abandoned due to the overload of 2.5 million 40-ton trucks a year – a million of them in detour traffic. The freighter lobby has now actually succeeded in creating their own ‘cheapest way of crossing the Alps’ permanently and permanently.”

Lueg restructuring for 300 million euros
The 1.8 kilometer long Lueg Bridge is just one of many on the busy Brenner corridor. The start of the general renovation is planned in 2024 and the entire building site will be accessible in one lane only by the end of the 2026/27 construction period. “That should be enough motivation to be the first to get rid of detoured transit by truck,” says the anti-transit fighter.

Both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the EU have already tabled corresponding proposals. It is compatible with EU law that the free movement of goods is subordinated to health objectives: “We want our freedom back and use our gardens, terraces, balconies and tourist buildings without excessive noise: today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”

Inactivity means imminent danger
Gurgiser now makes politicians responsible: “It is not nearly enough that the state and the federal government pat each other on the back and indicate that the Tyrolean driving bans and the IG Luft measures will not be shaken. It is now the core task of politics to ensure that no one can shake things up. Doing nothing means immediate danger.”

Protect the country first, then the traffic
The state and federal government should therefore lower the limit values in the IG-Luft to the current health level, “instead of sticking to old, seriously dangerous limit values and knowingly endangering a number of existing protective measures. ” measures”. The same applies to the “old, encrusted noise thresholds” that “protect” those who cause them: they must also be lowered: “Health before noise!”
