EH Bildu has presented an initiative in the Basque Parliament in which it proposes to set up a anti-corruption prosecutor with the “necessary” human and material resources so that it can perform “effectively”.
The parliamentarian of the sovereignist coalition Joshua Estarrona explained this proposal, which also proposes that the Basque government finalize a proposal within six months to create a “comprehensive judicial police with exclusive powers” in this case.
These initiatives would be a step ahead of establishing one own judiciary in Euskadi.
Estarrona has acknowledged that his group is aware that “any initiative claiming to be an advancement in transparency and the detection of bad practice has so far been systematically rejected by the Government of Urkullu”.
