The internal party conflicts in Neos Carinthia are approaching their peak. Four people were officially banned from the party!
After the lost state elections, a “group of critics”, as they call themselves, formed within the Carinthian Pinks. Target of the criticism: state spokesman Janos Juvan! The dissatisfaction was apparently so great that former state spokesman Lukas Latschen (18), who had already been expelled from the Junos, announced himself at a press conference last Friday as an opponent of Juvan. Janos Juvan: “My perception does not match the claims of this group.”
Now the federal party is responding
“After NEOS Carinthia spokesperson Janos Juvan announced the start of a transparent and open future process after the state elections on Friday, the movement is now taking enlightening steps for the success of constructive cooperation. According to Federal Director Robert Luschnik, this also includes that we have to say goodbye to the few people who do not help shape this path and no longer want to support the positive values of NEOS.
According to NEOS spokesman Julian Steiner, these people have refused clarifying talks: “The party has always been willing to talk, which was not based on reciprocity.” Therefore, Peter Zwanziger, Lukas Latschen, Markus Unterdorfer-Morgenstern and Roman Grechenig have now been excluded from NEOS membership with immediate effect. Roman Grechenig is (or rather was) the highest NEOS mandatary of Carinthia.
“No more candidacy”
What will happen with the candidacy of Lukas Latschen as state spokesperson for NEOS Carinthia? It’s off the table now. Latschen: “Simply excluding critical party members who have even announced a candidacy is not worthy of a liberal party like the Neos!” For his part, he also participated in the feedback process and therefore cannot understand the exclusion: are you afraid of a majority against Janos Juvan?” He wants to challenge the exclusion within the party.
According to the federal party, the announced opponent is not the reason for the exclusion of the party: “Committees have decided that this is party-damaging behavior and that is a reason for exclusion,” said Steiner. Janos Juvan: “The desired state members’ meeting has been announced by this group in the media, but not demanded by the party.”
