Barkos admits to feeling the same sense of wasting time when it comes to investing in infrastructures: “Navarra has not had any new investments for decades. Because of our tax regime, the fiscal responsibility lies with La Moncloa. Navarra has to pay 1.6% of the investments in the state and it has already done so, but it has not. We have seen the commitment of the Government of Spain towards Navarre”. He added that due to the lack of a financing agreement between governments, “among other things, the works on the Navarre canal are paralyzed”.

Taking into account euskera decree, Barkos believes that “it is a decree that does not look at the reality of Navarre, because in non-Basque speaking areas foreign languages are still promoted over Euskera”. In this sense, he emphasized that while many things have improved in Navarre in terms of Basque, “there are still many very important things to do”.
