Pamela Rendi-Wagner is likely to retire from politics soon. After coming only third in the party presidency membership survey, she made a statement to the party executive (from 9:30am above in krone.tv livestream).
The mayor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, won the member poll for the mayor of Traiskirchen, Andreas Babler. Doskozil received 33.7 percent of the vote, Babler 31.5 percent and Rendi-Wagner came in third with 31.4 percent. 3.46 percent opposed all three options.
How does this continue?
Following Rendi-Wagner’s statement, the committees are discussing how they want to approach the vote. Because the final valid decision can only be taken next week at the federal party congress. What makes things tricky is that the three camps in the study were more or less evenly matched.
Doskozil demanded to be nominated by the board as a quasi-official candidate on Monday. Babler, on the other hand, would like a second election by the members, but left open whether he would run as an alternative candidate at the party conference. There he would at most get a chance if the strong deputies and Doskosil-skeptical Vienna and trade unionists would stand behind him. There were no commitments from these two groups on Monday.
