In federal bodies – Ludwig would like active participation from Doskozil

Date:

The SPÖ state governors also met in the margins of the state governors’ conference. Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig reported on Wednesday that Hans Peter Doskozil had been in contact and that he hoped he would participate in the substantive discussion under the new SPÖ chairman Andreas Babler.

After the vote shortfall at the extraordinary SPÖ federal party conference, everything has now been clarified from Ludwig’s point of view, there is a clear result. Babler now has to make some decisions and in the afternoon the further procedure will be discussed in the federal party presidency. The fact that Babler had tried in vain to reach Doskosil could be due to the appointment of the Burgenland party leader, the mayor of Vienna said. After all, he was also named as chairman of the LH conference.

Participation desired
He had already been in contact with Doskozil himself, although there were not many opportunities for one-on-one conversations and the topics of the LH conference had to be discussed, says Ludwig. Speaking of subjects, the focus here is on financial equalization and the shift of the vertical distribution key in favor of the federal states, cities and municipalities.

Ludwig emphasized that he had always been in favor of Doskozil playing a role in federal party committees. Before this, he had offered him his seat in the presidency in the past. He now hopes that Doskozil will continue to participate in the substantive discussion in the future.

Kaiser abruptly, Doskozil silently
In contrast, the leader of the Carinthian state party, Peter Kaiser, only briefly said that things will go “hopefully well, positively and together” in the federal party. There was no comment from Doskozi himself before the start of the LH conference.

No comment from the ÖVP – only from the chancellor
The ÖVP state leaders declined to comment on events in the SPÖ. Markus Wallner of Vorarlberg, for example, immediately rejected the idea when journalists asked about it. Lower Austrian provincial governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner stressed that the new chairman was “purely a matter for the SPÖ”. According to Mikl-Leitner, it is now crucial that people work for the republic. For this, ÖVP boss and chancellor Karl Nehammer presented himself as a congratulatory person via Twitter and wished Babeler: “All the best for your new task!”
