The Austrian state treaty was signed on May 15, 1955. He made it possible to change a government after the death of Stalin and the “Moscow -Memorandum”, in which “eternal neutrality” was determined. So the countdown ran to the new, free Austria in the middle of the East-West conflict.

May 1945: After the liberation of the Allies and the end of the Second World War in 1945, Austria was divided into four occupancy zones: the east was under the Soviet occupation, the west under French, the south under British crew, and American troops were stationed in Upper Austria and Salzburg. Transforming the country occupied by the four allied victory forces in a free Austria was the common goal of Austrian politics at the time.
