“Of course we would support Sánchez again.” It has become so emphatic today Mertxe Aizpurua, deputy of EH Bildu and party leader for Gipuzkoa in the next election nomination, wondered whether they would again give their vote to the socialist leader. “We already know what the alternative is: the PP and the extreme right,” he argued. As to what they would ask in return, he assures that they would ask for “responsibility and loyalty” with regard to the “dealing” and adherence to the agreement.
EH Bildu presented his candidacies for 23J this weekend, with the same list captains as in 2019. In an interview given today to Euskadi Irratia’s “Faktoria” program, Aizpurua explained that will be presented to the Senate with ERC. According to Gipuzkoan politics, the Senate works “looking at territoriality” and both forces have “the experience” of this past legislature: “We are a group and this time it has been decided to go one step further. I think it is a good decision”. Aizpurua believes that “they are optimistic and if we are the first force in Gipuzkoa”, they will win the three senators – now they have two -. However, EH Bildu will appear only in Congress, “they are (cameras) different,” he argued. For the House of Representatives, the prognosis would be, as he has said, to keep the parliamentary party.
As for the legislature that concludes, Aizpurua has one “very positive review”. In his opinion, EH Bildu “has known how to take advantage of the opportunities. I don’t know if it’s a quality or something we learned along the way, but I didn’t leave any thorns behind. We have the opportunity to apply pressure and we have good measures taken for Euskal Herria and his citizenship”.
EH Bildu’s deputy has said she does not understand Sumar a Podemos’ vetoes, particularly those of the Equality Minister. Finally, and questioned by the statutes of the municipalities this Saturday, Aizpurua has insisted that they do not give up the option for Joseba Asiron to become mayor of Pamplona or for Rocío Vitero to become mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz. “We will fight until the last moment, because we think we owe it to the voters.
